Retirement Dream

My Mother was a wise lady, and never had the opportunity to advance the words she would say. She would always say pick up every penny you see on the ground and you will never be broke. When in my teens an elderly man said to me" if your bills are paid at the end of each month and you have one dollar left you will be secure in your future.
A radio show host had a saving plan never spend a dollar but use a five, ten, and twenties to pay for items, and in a year you could take the vacation you always dreamed about.
Hear I am retired at 65, sitting of the banks of Lake Lanier in Ga. where I type my yearly blog,
I'm not rich by any means but I have my lovely wife of twenty-seven years and enough savings to give me a comfortable retirement.
This is the motivation that I try to get across in my blogs. I learned a long time ago that luck was not the way to look at life, only you that can make your life where you want it to be at retirement. Life isn't having a good job, but a job till you find a better job. It isn't picking up pennies but paying yourself fifteen percent of your paycheck each month and putting it in a good mutual fund. It isn't having a lovely wife but having a lovely wife that will work with you to have that one dollar at the end of each month.
Here is a saying that I hate, "Life isn't fare the rich just keep getting richer". Life is fare cause the poor are the only ones that can get richer and the rich are the only ones that can help the poor get rich.
